Christian Basketball Youth Association

About the CBYA

My name is Mark Daly and I am the commissioner and founder of the Christian Basketball Youth Association (CBYA). Since 1990, I have had children playing in basketball leagues in Oklahoma City and the surrounding area. During that time I noticed that the younger players were not being taught the fundamentals of basketball while the behavior of parents and coaches were questionable.

In 1998, my children attended St. Charles Catholic School. The school is a part of the Catholic Grade School Athletic Association which had its own basketball league for both girls and boys 4th – 8th grades. However, the CGSAA does not include kindergarten through 3rd grade. For this reason I created the CBYA and invited all Christian Schools to participate. I believe we have created a safe and fun environment for children to learn the fundamentals of basketball conducted through Christ based behavior and attitudes. More importantly, with prayer before each game and the support of the coaches and parents, the children play in a friendly environment and have fun doing so.

In 2007, I was contacted by some Christian Schools that are not members of the CGSAA who wanted to continue with the CBYA for grades 4th through 6th. After much prayer, I decided to create an older league for schools, coaches, and parents wanting to continue teaching the fundamentals in a safe and fun environment.

In 1990 we had 27 teams and have grown to over 180 teams from different Christian Schools, Independent Schools, Home School and Individual Teams.

If you have any questions, would like to enter your team in this league or if you are thinking about starting your own fundamental basketball league feel free to contact me by email: Mark@CBYA.net.
